Yukon Nominee Program
Yukon
Nominee Program (YNP) has Business Programs and Skilled Worker Programs. The Business Programs are designed for entrepreneurs and self-employed professionals who
develop and expand Yukon's economy. The Skilled Worker Programs are designed for skilled workers and critical impact employees. Yukon is the only territory that has
an agreement with CIC (Citizenship and Immigration Canada) allowing
it to nominate immigrants.
Entrepreneur:
Yukon Entrepreneur program is for entrepreneurs or small business owners who would like to settle in Yukon. Although most business sectors are eligible, the priority investment sectors are Information Technology (IT), Value Added Processing, Forestry, Tourism
Products, Attractions, Services and Facilities, Energy, Mining/Mineral
Development, Agriculture, Cultural Industries (including film and video
production). Although eligible, retail (including merchandising and food services) is not
a priority sector. Eligibility criteria are:
- a minimum net worth of $250,000 (CAD)
- the minimum equity investment
of $150,000(CAD)
- experience and education to implement a business plan
- basic communication skills in English or French
- have visited Yukon
Professional Self-employed:
Yukon Professional Self-employed program is for self-employed professionals who provide services through the establishment of business outlets or professional practices in Yukon. Eligibility criteria are:
- the profession must be listed as a professional skill shortage
- must satisfy any certification or accreditation/license requirement for the profession
- basic communication skills in English
- have sufficient financial resources to start and operate a professional practice for at least 6 months
- must have a detailed business plan
- have visited Yukon
Skilled Worker:
Yukon Skilled Worker program is for people who have a guaranteed job offer with a employer in Yukon. Eligibility criteria are:
- the profession must be listed as an occupational skill shortage
- must satisfy any certification or accreditation/license requirement for the profession
- basic communication skills in English
Critical Impact Employee:
Yukon Critical Impact Employee program is for key employees who have the potential to make a significant contribution to business, industry or the local economy in Yukon. This program is employer driven. The business, association or government will identify the prospective employee and apply to have the individual sponsored.
You will be able to apply for a two-year work permit upon getting approved by the Yukon Nominee Program; then, apply for permanent residency after a year of working in Yukon.
